GUIDANCE SERVICES UNIT
VISION-MISSION STATEMENT
We, in the Guidance Services Unit, are a
community of disciples of Jesus Christ, the Compassionate Healer, committed to
the mission of a compassionate service geared to the wholistic formation of
Paulinians through the integration of Christian values in the therapeutic
interventions and counseling in order to foster their growth towards
understanding of self and others for the realization of their full human
potentials, and thus becoming effective members of the society.
GUIDANCE
SERVICES
INFORMATION
Provide students and parents a wide variety
of up-to-date information through guidance orientation, parents assembly,
guidance activities, guidance bulletin board, guidance library, guidance manual
and trainings/workshops.
COUNSELING
It is a purposeful,
face-to-face relationship between a counselor and a student which focuses on the
student’s growth in self-understanding and self-decision, and to which the
counselor contributes to the attainment of such through careful understanding
and skillful assistance.
FOLLOW-UP
Determine the status of the person who received assistance
and such other assistance that may be rendered so that the service is complete
and holistic and to maintain contact with
the students and alumnae in all phases of employment to better serve the
students.
APPRAISAL
Help students understand themselves and become self-actualized persons through psychological
tests, interviews and growth sessions based on their needs.
PLACEMENT
Assist students in making the transition from
school to the world of work through career symposia, job fair, and linkages with
the companies and organizations.
RESEARCH AND EVALUATION
Administer yearly
evaluation of the guidance activities and programs, and conduct mini-studies
regarding results of students’ psychological tests, students’ concerns and
academic achievement which serve as guides for planning and improvement of the
guidance program and other school services.
CONSULTATION &
REFERRALS
Discuss or confer
about a certain view, opinion or topic with or from the counselor. The significant others dealing with
the students are assisted in improving the environment or situation that
contributes to the problem.
PEER FACILITATORS’ GROUP (PFG)
This is a
group of students coming from the different programs/courses and year levels who
assist the Counselors in the delivery of the guidance services to their fellow
students.
Other Activities
§
Support groups for
married and single parent students, foreign students and male students.

Growth sessions on
personality development, sexuality, assertiveness, love and relationships,
college life adjustment, emotional wellness, optimism, etc.
