SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS PROGRAM

Upon recommendation of the Office of Scholarships and Grants, and approval of the President, the University accepts deserving students who are in need of financial assistance. However, a student shall enjoy one scholarship at a time. A student enjoying a scholarship grant from the government or other internal/external agencies or organizations and at the same time qualified for a University scholarship is given the discretion to select which to avail of. Further, any commission of sanctionable act can be ground for disqualification of scholarship.

  1. Student Assistance Program - Scholars under this program are entitled to 100% tuition fee subsidy and 75% miscellaneous fee subsidy. In return, they are required to render a total of 270 hours of service for the regular semester and 90 hours during special term. Student Assistants may carry academic load of 18 units per semester. Exclusion from this scholarship grant are Nursing, Computer Science, IT, HRM, ABMC and Tourism Programs.

  2. Education Grant - Grantees under this program are entitled to 100% tuition and miscellaneous fees subsidy. In return they are required to render 120 hours of service within the regular semester and 60 hours during special term. Education Grantees may carry full academic load per semester. The grant is open to those who wish to pursue Education and Music Education.

  3. PD 451 - As a further condition to any grant of increase in tuition or other school fees, private schools with a total enrollment of at least 1,000, are hereby required to provide free scholarships to poor but deserving students at the ratio of 1 free scholarship for every 500 students enrolled.

  4. PD 577 - Any one dependent of military personnel who died or were incapacitated in line of duty shall be exempted from the payment of tuition and matriculation fees.

  5. Mother Bernard - Open to dependents of all regular employees of St. Paul University Manila. The privileges given to the student varies depending on the years of service rendered by the employee. Discount is determined by the Finance Office.

  6. H.O.P.E. Ablaze Scholarship - Open to all students of SPU Manila. This scholarship varies depending on the available funds from benefactors. The recipients usually enjoy a specified discount within one school year. Renewal of this scholarship still depends on the benefactors.

  7. Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) - Open to all students for approval of UNIFAST under the CHED NCR. Privileges: Php 60,000 per year from the government for tuition, miscellaneous and other fees.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIP:

  1. Letter of Intent addressed to the University President and/or VP for Students Services
  2. Duly accomplished application form
  3. At least an Average Score in the Entrance Examination of St. Paul University Manila
  4. SHS Report Card/ Transcript of Records (original and photocopy), GPA of at least 83% with no grades below 80% in all subjects
  5. Income Tax Return of Parents (original and photocopy)/ Certificate of Indigency
  6. Letter of Recommendations/ Certificate of Good Moral Character from SHS Principal/ Class Adviser/ Guidance Counsellor
  7. Personal Interview with the Vice President for Student Services together with Parent/Guardian

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION OF STUDENT ASSISTANT & EDUCATION GRANTEE

  1. Received the following requirements:

    1. Letter of Intent addressed to the VP for Students Services
    2. Duly accomplished application form
    3. At least an Average Score in the Entrance Examination of St. Paul University Manila
    4. SHS Report Card/ Transcript of Records (original and photocopy), GPA of at least 83% with no grades below 80% in all subjects
    5. Letter of Recommendation/ Certificate of Good Moral Character from SHS Principal/ Class Adviser/ Guidance Counselor
    6. Income Tax Return of Parents (original and photocopy)
  2. Personal Interview of Student Assistant applicant with the Vice President for Student Services together with Parent/Guardian.

  3. Facilitate the signing of the Student Assistant Scholar contract with the presence of the parents.

  4. Orient the Student Assistant Scholar and his/her parent/guardian about the regulations of Scholarships and Grants Program.

  5. Assign the Student Assistant Scholar to an office; coordinate with the immediate head for the orientation of the scholars.

  6. Evaluate the Student Assistant Scholar at the end of every semester for renewal of scholarship.

  7. Reasons for not being renewed is caused by any of the following:

    1. Grade below 80% in a certain subject
    2. Evaluation result below 2.50
    3. Failure to complete the 270 duty hours in one semester
    4. Violations/ Disciplinary actions
WEIGHTED MEAN FOR EVALUATION:
1.00 - 1.75 Poor
1.76 - 2.50 Fair
2.51 - 3.25 Satisfactory
3.26 - 4.00 Excellent
